According to Madhouse’s founder, an important director at Madhouse died suddenly. Interesting timing. inb4 it was Tetsuro Araki. (Or he was being sarcastic and making an excuse so he didn’t have to do [whatever] they decided to do tonight.)
Edit: Oh fuck, Satoshi Kon died. Apparently he died of cancer. Satoshi Kon directed Magnetic Rose, Perfect Blue, Millennium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers, Paranoia Agent, and Paprika. If you haven’t seen any of these, you should go see all of them. Right now. They’re better than say, K-On. Who the fuck would be subbing or watching K-On at a time like this? Go mourn.

they obtain rights or something to a lot of good series’, and take years to get it done.
they mess up a manga by adding more unnecessary and more freaky/disturbing fan service than actually trying to attach better content or more side stories that aren’t fillers or something. And for some reason ALWAYS enjoy partly giving the alternate ending middle finger to many mangas they turn into anime.
I’m done with Madhouse produced anime after this.

I haven’t seen any of his works, but this news still saddens me…
I’ve seen Paranoia agent, and Paprika (they both start with “P” conspiracy!?) both great works. Rest in peace
Going to watch what he’s made that I haven’t seen now because of this. (Only seen Paprika and Paranoia Agent really) He’s a great director and pretty much the only actually really good guy in Madhouse. The rest are varying quite a bit, the only other director that holds ground is the guy that directed Death Note and Aoi Bungaku, but he is also the guy doing HSotD and he’s revealed himself as an annoying breast addicted dumbfuck so even though he can do a good job he’s way too distracted by boobs, panties and ass.

To think that there will never be another movie or series by con makes me cry.

I know I’m in the minority, but I didn’t like anything Satoshi Kon ever did. But it’s still better than K-ON.

I don’t know who made that image, but the pre-moe era never existed, and Full Metal Panic wouldn’t belong there if it did. I have never seen a new season of anime come out that did not have some form of moe, for moe is what embodies the 100 laws of anime in its purest form.
And why is Gainax in that comparison? Have you seen there original works as Daicon? Gainax is devoted to anything and everything that makes as little sense as possible, serious or otherwise.

I was really devastated to hear about this yesterday. Made a Facebook status about it. Some of the first anime movies I watched were his, and I recommended them to anyone who thought anime couldn’t be thought-provoking.
Every year around Christmas I watch Tokyo Godfathers and will continue to do so.
RIP Satoshi Kon.

I’ve heard of all those movie, but only seen Millennium Actress. It was an excellent movie, and I’m truly sad to hear that the director of it has died.
RIP Satoshi Kon. I really do hope his last project, Yume Miru Kikai, will be completed in memory of him.

Really sad news.
I’ve been a fan of Kon’s work since I first saw Perfect Blue almost a decade and a half ago, the world of Anime has lost a true visionary.
My heart goes out to his family and loved ones. Having spent most of this year fighting cancer myself, I have an idea as to what they’re going through.
Some of the comments on this news really angered me – all I can say is grow up! If you don’t care, don’t post – no one’s interested in your juvenile remarks.
