We came to the realization that most of the negativity we personally hear is not from downloaders, but from other fansubbers. Starting immediately, gg will be pressing charges for slander against other fansub groups with members who bash us.

fwiw, you’re among a handful of people who do actual translations. That is, something that a professional translator wouldn’t have problems with. There’s a tendency out there to translate idioms and phrases word for word. Weeaboos see this as “making an effort”, “accuracy” and “quality”.
If I weren’t so lazy I’d make a fucked-up-fansub bingo where you tick off boxes whenever you spot translations like these:
“ecchi” -> “perverted”
“joshikousei” -> “female high school student”
“sou itte mo…” -> “even if you say that…”
In a trivial sense, I guess none of these are wrong, they just make the text awkward. No-one talks like that in a regular conversation. We’re not going to miss rich cultural subtexts if the final translation is in good English.
…which reminds me. I read the comments section for a Bakemonogatari episode you subbed. Some poor bastard with a dictionary was complaining that you translated ecchi as kinky. He wasn’t happy with your using such an “exotic” term and helpfully suggested using the proper term perverted instead. After reading several posts like this, I no longer wondered why you closed comments.
